Barbara Wersten, co-founder and president Ryan Wersten MIOP Foundation
Mrs. Wersten is the proud mother of Ryan and Alexander. She has worked in the Saratoga Springs City School District as a teacher since 2000. During the school year she volunteers for various committees and extracurricular activities in the school district. She also volunteers for the American Red Cross to organize one of the area’s largest blood donation collections sites. Mrs. Wersten graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh with a BS in education and from SUNY Albany with a MS in reading.
Paul Wersten, co-founder and treasurer
Mr. Wersten is a graduate of Union College with both a BA and MBA, which led to a career in banking. Currently, Mr. Wersten is a Vice President and Commercial Credit Manager for TD Bank in the Upstate NY market. In addition to co-founding Ryan's Foundation with his wife, Mr. Wersten has served on the American Heart Association Board for the Capital Region and more recently as both a board member and board president of the Glens Falls Family YMCA.
Andrew Keyes, Vice President
Mr. Keyes has been a board member of the Ryan Wersten MIOP Foundation since 2011. He is a resident of Malta, NY. Mr. Keyes is employed in the medical device industry and has a BA from the University of Delaware.
Rana Hughes, Secretary
Mrs. Hughes has served as secretary on The Ryan Wersten MIOP Foundation board since it's inception in 2006. In addition to her board responsibilities she is one of the coordinators of the foundation's annual event, Ryan's Run, which is a 5K walk/run in Saratoga Springs. She is currently an elementary teacher in the Saratoga Springs School District and is a graduate of The University at Albany where she earned a master's degree.
Jill Perry
A board member since 2012, Mrs. Perry is the proud mother of George and Kaitlyn. She has worked in the Saratoga Springs City School District as a teacher since 1999. Shortly after Ryan was diagnosed, she organized a fund raising raffle and barbecue with fellow board member, Rana Hughes. Since the first Ryan's Run she has coordinated raffles at every Ryan Wersten MIOP Foundation event since. Mrs. Perry graduated from SUNY Cortland with a BS in education and from SUNY Albany with a MS in Educational psychology and statistics.
Mary Valentine
A board member since 2016. Mrs. Valentine has a BS in Elementary Education, master’s in Literacy. She is retired, having been a teacher in Saratoga Springs for 30 years. She is a married, mother of four and has been involved with MIOP for the past six years.
Kristin Savoie
Ms. Savoie has been a board member since 2016. She is a Wilton resident who has experience in both the non-profit and public sectors. Ms. Reinhart is a graduate of New England Conservatory of Music and has a master’s in Music Education from James Madison University. She currently teaches in the Greenwich Public Schools.
